Action Steps:

Simple things we all can do to create change in the lives of the youngest members of our community.

  1. Read a book to a child
  2.  Support school boards and school leaders as they collaborate with other stakeholders to better prepare our children for their school years.
  3. Visit child care centers or kindergarten classes to get a firsthand look at the issues involved with young children.
  4. When you can, contribute dollars where they can have the biggest impact.
  5. Give your time, talent, and expertise to help support early childhood efforts.  Get involved!
  6. Research candidates and vote in upcoming elections.
  7. Because they are critical to their child’s development, support and encourage the parents you know.
  8. Communicate with your legislator about how important early childhood issues are to you.
  9. When you see the terms “early childhood” “early care and education: and “early childhood development,” stop and listen to what is being addressed.
  10. Observe a three or four year old child and consider just how difficult life will be for that child if we don’t help him/her get ready for kindergarten.
