Action Steps:
Simple
things we all can do to create change in the lives of the youngest members of
our community.
-
Read a book to a child
-
Support school boards and school leaders as they collaborate with other
stakeholders to better prepare our children for their school years.
-
Visit child care centers or kindergarten classes to get a firsthand look at
the issues involved with young children.
-
When you can, contribute dollars where they can have the biggest impact.
-
Give your time, talent, and expertise to help support early childhood
efforts. Get involved!
-
Research candidates and vote in upcoming elections.
-
Because they are critical to their child’s development, support and
encourage the parents you know.
-
Communicate with your legislator about how important early childhood issues
are to you.
-
When you see the terms “early childhood” “early care and education: and
“early childhood development,” stop and listen to what is being addressed.
-
Observe a three or four year old child and consider just how difficult life
will be for that child if we don’t help him/her get ready for kindergarten.
