About YFC

OUR FOCUS...The Unreached

Today our young people face challenges that were nonexistent just a few years ago. The teen years are supposed to be among life's best, full of growth, challenge, excitement and hope for the future. But something, as a matter of fact, many things, have gone desperately wrong.

Recognizing the needs of young people in the area, Crow River Area Youth For Christ is reaching out and caring for area young people. Together with parents, pastors and other concerned adults, YFC is making every effort to reach teens with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Each of us can be part of this outreach in our own way. Some might want to be directly involved with young people as volunteers with the ministry, while others will want to assist through an adult support group, as a helper to the ministry or through financial support of the program.

OUR MISSION

To communicate the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to every young person in the area.

OUR PURPOSE

To participate in the body of Christ in the responsible evangelism of youth, presenting them with the person, work and teaching of Jesus Christ, discipling them, and leading them into the local church.

OUR STRATEGY

To mobilize the Christian community to reach lost youth wherever they are and by all possible means.

Campus Life

Providing young people with positive alternatives and answers to growing up in a secular society is one of YFC's high priorities. Through Campus Life, our high school outreach, and Campus Live JV, our middle school outreach, YFC will present the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to hundreds of young people across our area this year.

Young people are involved in weekly club meetings, Bible studies, small groups, camps, sports and community events through Campus Life.

YFC is also committed to training Christian teens to reach their friends for Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goal is to encourage young people to continue growing in their Christian faith by becoming active in a local church. YFC also sponsors DC/LA - a bi-coastal evangelism training conference for teens, in 1997 nearly 35,000 will participate.

Crow River Area Youth For Christ's vision is to have Campus Life outreach programs active in 70 percent of the area communities by the year 2000.

Carpenter's Tools

Giving students an opportunity to use their musical talents to communicate the life- changing message of Jesus Christ, YFC offers the Carpenter's Tools outreach.

Carpenter's Tools, a group of high school students, and Fast Forward, a group of middle school students, perform in area churches, schools, at youth retreats and civic functions throughout the area.

Members also have an opportunity to serve overseas each summer. For over 21 years, Carpenter's Tools groups have performed all over the world.

Past trips have included India, Singapore and Myanmar. In 1997 the Tools traveled to Romania.

Evangelism and Family Resources

YFC's goal is to work hand in hand with families and the local church in equipping young people to become effective servants of Jesus Christ.

A Family Resource Center featuring a wide variety of videos for church and family use is located at the YFC office in Litchfield. YFC also sponsors many different camps, conferences and events that are open to church groups and their leaders. Leadership training conferences, as well as many youth evangelism resources are available.
In addition, YFC offers short-term mission projects through a program called "Project Serve" helping fill urgent needs around the world.

Staff and Volunteers

Although our staff and volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, they all have one thing in common; a love for young people and a desire to share the love of Jesus Christ with them.

Crow River Area Youth For Christ is under the direction of Bryan Blomker. Bryan is a 14 year veteran with Youth For Christ, having served in Minnesota, Germany, with Carpenter's Tools International and here in our area.

Peter Talbot serves as a Campus Life Director, Erica Asendorf is the director of Carpenter's Tools, and Sandi Huikko is our Office Coordinator.

Besides the staff, Crow River Area Youth For Christ works with and trains dozens of volunteers who serve with young people, on boards, and in many other ways.
