Business Retention & Expansion

In partnership with Meeker County Economic Development Authority, the Chamber conducts regular one-on-one visits and focus groups with members from our major industry sectors: manufacturing, health care, agriculture, retail and financial services. During these visits, we listen to employers’ concerns and opinions, help them solve problems, and gather valuable input to shape our public policy and programming activities.

We recognize that the economic vitality of our community is largely due to the success of each of these sectors and provide programs and services that address each group’s unique requirements.

Understanding what factors are seen as beneficial for doing business in the Litchfield area and what factors hinder business, is vital to the economic development of the region.  Recently, Chamber member businesses responded to an online survey that asked them to rate several community and state factors.

Here are some highlights:

• The factors that rated most highly were K-12 education, crime rate, energy reliability and labor costs.

• The factors that rated most unfavorably were air service, highway infrastructure, and cultural opportunities.

• Almost two-thirds (66%) had a favorable opinion of the community as a place to do business.

• Seventy-eight per cent had a favorable opinion of the community as a place to live.

• Forty-five per cent had an unfavorable rating of Minnesota’s state taxes.

The Chamber Board of Directors uses survey data from our members to determine the direction and focus for the Chamber’s programs and services. Click here for the complete report.
